GODLEY HEAD OPEN DAY: SUNDAY 3rd of March
The recently upgraded Taylors Mistake walking track and cycle way will be officially opened on Sunday 3rd of March. The Godley Head Heritage Trust will be holding an open day in conjunction with this event. It will be an opportunity to inspect the progress we have made since the last open day which took place over two years ago, before all the disruption caused by the quakes. Whether you feel energetic enough to walk or cycle the track or simply wish to drive to the Head, do come along. More details as to time will be announced later. We will be holding a sausage sizzle during the open day.
Meanwhile DoC has been working steadily towards undertaking work on earthquake repairs of the gun emplacements. This involves some very complex engineering issues. Engineering reports have been undertaken and are in the final stages of peer review in order to satisfy the requirements of the insurance company. Although the go-ahead from the insurance company is expected before the end of the month, the timeframe for commencement of the repairs remains uncertain. No work can take place before CERA is also satisfied.
