Godley Head Heritage Trust has created a Facebook page. We have uploaded images of earthquake damage at the Head taken by DOC staff during a site visit on 13th of July 2011. You can access the page from these links.
Fortunately there has been little damage in the compound but as can be seen from the images, there has been some movement and cracking to the gun emplacements and magazines. There has also been significant damage to the cliffs, which have become unstable and dangerous. Following the aftershock on Sunday 9th of October, there was a further collapse of the cliffs on the Lyttelton Harbour side of the Head.
